- The choice is clear. its our southern right and our southern independence
- Civil War Intro: Both the north and south thought the choice was clear on what side to fight for. They believed there could be no neutrals in the war. border states stayed with the union but had many soldiers fighting for the south
- Its our union! our constitution! and our flag!
- Lincoln: Lincoln was born in Kentucky and grew up there. His mother died when he was young and he did not attend school for very long. Even though he didn't go to school he loved reading and had a craving for knowledge
- Lincoln vs. Davis:
- Davis: Davis also was born in Kentucky. He grew up on a plantation. Davis never really enjoyed politics but he served as president of the confederacy because he felt it as his duty
- Battle of Bull Run: There is Jackson with his Virginians standing like a stone wall That's inspired by Stonewall Jackson's Example The Rebel lines held firm until reinforcements arrived
- What is going on??
- Women Support War: women not only worked as nurses but they also ran farms, worked in factories, found jobs such as teachers, and some even worked as spies, smugglers, soldiers, and scouts

- Battle of Antietam: General Lee hoped that this battle would convince European nation to support the south. McCellan claimed that the battle of Antietam was a Union victory but it was really a defeat for both armies. Many were wounded, missing, or dead. The battle of Antietam was the bloodiest day of the war
- Emancipation Proclamation: Lincoln changed his mind and decided to put an end to slavery. On 1/1/1863 Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation which declared all slaves in the confederate states to be free. The confederate states simply ignored this so the document didn't end up working as intended
- All slaves should be free
