- Anaconda Plan
- Abraham Lincoln was a Republican from Illinois, Lincoln led the Union during the Civil War. He was the sixteenth President of the United States. He opposed the expansion of slavery.
- Industrial Advantage
- Some of the main Military leaders were Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman. George Meade, and George B. McClellan.
- Transportation Advantage
- These railroads will help us travel!
- The Anaconda Plan was proposed by Suggested by Winfield Scott to “slowly choke and suffocate the South”. The plan would impose a blockade to halt Southern trade with the world while the army would divide and isolate sections of the South and capture its vital cities.
- Agricultural Disadvantage
- We are starting to have a shortage of food.
- About 90% of the factories were located in the North. This meant that the North had the advantage since they could manufacture clothing, boots, and weaponry for the war.
- Theses weapons will help us in the war!
- About 72% of the railroads were located in the North. This meant that the North could transport and travel significantly fast because of the railroads. The South had one major railroad line which connected Memphis and Chattanooga. This railroad could easily be disrupted which would affect the South significantly.
- The South has the ability to grow crops like rice, corn, and cotton. This meant that they could trade for their weaponry instead of having to manufacture them. This also meant that they access to a lot of food which would be useful for fueling the soilders.
