- When Matthias Jacob Schleiden first started this journey, he was studying Natural Science at the University of Göttingen in Göttingen, Germany.

- However, he transferred to the University of Berlin in Berlin, Germany, in 1835 to study plants.
- GLOBULES!
- In Berlin, Schleiden worked in the laboratory of zoologist Johannes Müller, where he met Theodore Schwann.
- FOUNDERS OF CELL THEORY
- The two scientists started to work in the same lab and were looking into the origin and developmental history of plants. They wanted to find a unit of organisms common to the animal and plant kingdoms. Little did they know...
- Schwann found these things, which he called Globules, inside animals. Schleiden saw this stuff and realized that he found the exact same stuff in plants.
- DUDE! THAT'S WHAT I FOUND INN PLANTS TOO! WHOAAAAA!
- The two of them collaborated and Schleiden went on to write a book. It was called "Beiträge zur Phytogenesis", translated to Contributions to Our Knowledge of Phytogenesis. The book talked about his discoveries and how they might play a bigger role.
