  • July 1775
  •     Nathan Hale received a letter from his friend Benjamin Tallmadge telling him that he was going to join the Patriots and asked if Nathan would join him to fight for his freedom.
  •    Nathan Hale became an army captain and led his troops into New York. They defended their forts during the Battle of Long Island. They lost this battle and the British took over the area. 
  • 1776
  • George Washington needed a spy to go into the British camp. Nathan volunteered to go and risk his life for his country.
  • 1776
  • I will be the spy.
  •       When Nathan Hale tried to escape back to his army he was caught. Before he was hung by the British captain William Hull he was asked if he had any last words.
  • “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”
  • September 22, 1776
