- I need a proper dress for the grand ball.
- Ok then.
- I need new jewelry for this.
- I think I know someone.
- Mathilde Loisel hates her poor lifestyle. She's always jealous and never grateful for what she has.
- Me too!
- I love this place!
- Mathilde and Monsieur were invited to a grand ball. Mathilde needs a nice dress but Monsieur thought she would be happy to just go.
- What are we gonna do?
- Oh no I can't find my necklace!
- Mathilde doesn't want to look poor in front of the rich. Monsieur attempts to convince her that she doesn't need any but she wants new jewelry. He convinces her to borrow jewelry from Madame Forestier.
- I have a lot of money for that lost necklace.
- That was only 500 francs.
- Mathilde gets the necklace from Monsieur's friend. They both get all dressed up and head to the ball.
- At the ball, Mathilde loves the "rich" version of herself and forgets about her regular life. She loses the necklace.
- 10 years later Mathilde finds Madame Forester and tells her she's worked ten years to pay back the necklace. Madame Forester tells her that it was only 500 francs.
