Storyboard Text

  • Our religion is really easy to learn
  • What should I write about?
  • Kublai Khan learned how to ride horses and shoot arrows while his grandfather Genghis Khan conquered China.
  • This is really good!
  • Kublai was very interested in the culture of the Chinese. He studied the philosophies of Ancient China such as Confucianism and Buddhism.
  • And others can too!
  • You can believe in whatever you want!
  • Kublai wrote many pages of Chinese poetry, though most of his works have not survived.
  • Because he is a Mongol, and you are not even Chinese!
  • Why is he first than me?
  • He succeeded in building a powerful empire, created an academy, offices, trade ports and canals and sponsored science and the arts. The record of the Mongols lists 20,166 public schools created during Kublai's reign.
  • Kublai encouraged Asian arts and demonstrated religious tolerance.
  • Kublai established a social hierarchy based on race.At the top of the hierarchy were the Mongols. They were followed by the Central Asians (non-Chinese), the northern Chinese, and (at the bottom) the southern Chinese.
