- We are going to have to tax you farmers because we don't have enough money after that war.
- This isn't fair!!!
- Yeah we don't like this high taxation!
- I am Daniel Shay and I believe that this high taxation is terrible!
- After the end of the Revolutionary War in 1781 America owed a lot of money from the war, so they decided to tax people, especially farmers.
- No more high taxation!!

- The farmers in Massachusetts became angry with the weak new government that the United States had just created because it was taxing them hard.
- No more high taxation!!
- I am James Bowdoin and I will defeat your army!
- So Daniel Shays' came back and gathered farmers who were also upset about high taxation.
- Maybe they were right about our government being weak. We need a change!!
- Shays' forged the angry farmers into any army to protest, and fight the weak government
- James Bowdoin, the governor of Massachusetts, pulled together his own army to defeat Shays' Rebellion. And he succeed.
- Even though Shays Rebellion disintegrated quickly after James's army, it showed weakness in the new government. It changed things because it made many people agree with Shays Rebellion
