Anthropology is referred to a holistic study because its reach is so vast and covers as much as it does.
Anthropology is the study of humans through out time and around the world.
It is broken down into four disciplines or subfields. Sociocultural anthropology, anthropological anthropology, biological anthropology and linguistic.
Sociocultural anthropology, also known as cultural anthropology focuses on society and cultures. Where as biological anthropology hones in on biological diversity through time and as it exists today.
Anthropological archaeology, or archaeology put simply, examines and interprets human behaviors and patterns through objects. Linguistic anthropology examines language in the social and cultural context throughout the world and time.
And in overlapping with those different studies it also impacts multiple aspects of life as we know it. For example protecting our environment and ecosystems , to helping business to change for the better,
You're on the right path. But this is just the start. As we progress you'll see that anthropology is a broad study that overlaps with several different studies.
You're off to a good start though. As the course proceeds you'll get a further idea of anthropology and how it effects the world as we know it.
