During this time, the Germans were assigned to collect all the Jews and take them to concentration camps. Sara refused to go so she snuck out into the clock tower when no one was looking, But she was found by Julien. He snuck her out through the sewer and took her to his barn where Julien's parents took care of her.
They feed her, kept her warm, and safe. She spent most of her days daydreaming about where her parents were, daydreaming about life, the war. sometimes during the day Julien would come see her and they would play cards and pretend that nothing was happening in the outside world, everyone was safe but that of course was not true.
When the war ended, Sara had found out that Julien should've been taken to a hospital but they didn't have room so he was executed. After the war, Sara was united with her father and was finally taken home. Every summer she visited Julien's parents and when she got married they walked her down the aisle.
