This story is about a Jewish boy named Yanek who is from Krakow, Poland. It takes place from 1939-1945 during World War II. Yanek was 10 when the Nazis invaded Poland and Yanek spent the next 6 years in concentration camps.
In this part of the story the German Soldiers marched in and took over Krakow. They gathered all the Jews into one part of the town and build a wall. This getto was the end of their freedom.
In a six year span Yanek was transported in box cars to 10 different concentration camps on work details. He loses his identity and becomes prisoner B-3087 and becomes invisible in order to survive.
Hope began to surface in the last few months of 1945. The prisoners began to see Allied plans and here and see bombs. Yanek was barely surviving but had to hold on.
One night the camp was bombed. In the morning to their surprise the Nazis soldiers had fled. Later that day they were recused by the American soldiers and taken to Munich.
