- We should take this coffin, or that one, the price is reasonable.
- "The white undertaker put his palm on the small of her mother's back and propelled her toward the more expensive coffins." The undertaker is greedy as he is using the mother's grieving as an opportunityto make more profit by showing her the most expensive coffins.
- "Her mother couldn't stop crying. She held a handkerchief to her eyes like a blindfold, knotting and unraveling it, knotting and unraveling it." The Mother is grieving from her husbands death, she cries continuously as she won't see him anymore.
- Prieta makes a practical choice in how much they should spend on the coffin. "Her mother was either hysterical or very quiet and withdrawn, so Prieta had to swallow her own tears. " Prieta tried staying strong on the outside just for her mother, but deep inside she was suffering from the lost of her father too.
