Storyboard Text

  • Character vs Self
  • They’re fair. The miller works as hard as any of us hands. The food is plenty and good.
  • Then why aren't you bigger?
  • Do they work you hard?
  • Character vs Character
  • I'm so sorry, Charlie. I never expected this.
  • It's all right, Lyddie. It's all right.
  • Character vs Nature
  • Hush! You'll just make him madder.
  • Oh Lord, deliver us!
  • I know this is an example of character vs self because Lyddie is upset that even though she really cares for Charlie she doesn’t know what to talk to him about. She is concerned about why he hasn’t grown and is upset for not making him laugh or catching up with him.
  • I know this is character vs character because Lyddie was mad with her mother. It caused a conflict between them because her mother thought she was being a great mother, but Lyddie was mad at her for separating her and Charlie and sending them off to work.
  • I know character vs nature is being demonstrated because Lyddie is challenged by a wild bear (the force of nature) and has to get around it by staring it down. She also has to get her family to safety from the bear which makes it even more challenging.
