- The Third Estate pays taxes while the 1st and 2nd don't.;
- Third Estate
- King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette spent money on luxuries and helping the U.S.
- The Estates General meet because there is an economic crisis(1789)
- The 3rd Estate wanted to set up a Constitutional Govt. and wanted everyone to pay taxes but the King didn't like these ideas.
- Third Estate declared that they are the National Assembly and stages the Tennis Court Oath
- On July 14th, 1789, 900 Parisians stormed the fortress, the Bastille. They beheaded the warden and tore the building down brick by brick
- King Louis XVI wasn't aware of the revolution going on, The National Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Man of the Citizen
- The King initially denied all decrees made by the National Assembly
- During 1793, King Louis XVI was executed by the Jacobins and this was the beginning of the Reign of Terror.
- A new constitution is put into to place that limits the power of the King and the Catholic Church
