  • One day, Jillian, a 19-year-old college student, woke up lying on a hospital bed after being brought to the hospital after suddenly fainting. Nurse Joy is in-charge of Jillian and tries to determine the cause of the problem.

  • Good afternoon Jillian, I'm nurse Joy. You're in Parkway East Hospital. You were rushed here after fainting during lunch time. Do you remember?
  • Nurse Joy asks some questions to Jillian. It is important to establish nurse-patient relationship through trust and establish an honest communication. This helps to distress the patient and voice out their concerns.

  • My relatives kept on teasing me about my weight. My parents compare me with my cousins. I want to look good in front of everyone because it feels right and so that they will accept me.

  • I restrict myself by eating the same amount of food servings, I tend to burn food so that they taste bad, and I avoid buying foods that have no nutritional information in it. I would often go to the toilet to get the food I ate out of my system.

  • Nurses are also responsible for monitoring the patient's vital signs, weight, behavior, and nutritional and mental status.
  • Your weight is currently 39Kg, you are considered underweight. I will report this to Dr. Cruz. For the meantime, you should get some more rest. I will be back after an hour or two. Please call me if you need anything
  • Nurses are also responsible in educating patients about their health, illness, medications, treatments, and follow-up checkups. They must educate the patient's family about the illness and what they should do to foster a therapeutic environment for the client towards her recovery.
