wylie is a girl who cares and she tries so hard to keep her life together. in the story, she seems to be a shy clumsy girl but she really is a girl who had taken a risk to save her ex-best friend from what it seems to take a wrong turn.
"'...we were really hoping he'd be here by now so he could explain himself.' 'him who?' i ask. 'who are you talking about?' 'oh.' now Quintin looks confused... 'your dad Wylie.'"
ben is the antagonist in the story because he was behind every secrete that they have told but he was always good at keeping or hiding secrets from someone. in the story, he doesn't tell anyone what's going on or why it is happening. he was the one who started some of the mess that now the kids are involved and are in danger as well.
"The terrible man, bearded and thin with blotchy skin, looks up at Jasper and hold up his dirty finger. shhh, that's the sound he makes if we could hear him. my heart is racing as he lifts something high in front of him. it takes me a minute to realize what it is: a rifle..."
the main theme of this book is intuition because Wylie will always go with her instincts, she knows its a bad feeling but it is the way to her Cassie from the trouble she had gotten herself in. I don't think you should always agree with your instincts becuase it can get you into trouble, but it can sometimes help you but not always.
"'camp colestah?' I say. the sergeant glances over at officer Kendall, who still has not spoken. the two nod knowingly to each other. 'Colestah's a popular spot,' the sergeant goes on. 'Shelter, privacy- what more could a junkie want? they are like rats...'"
the mood of this novel is mysterious becuase in the begging of the book when Cassie went missing my thought went to a lot of things to what could happen to Cassie, but when I got near the end a lot of truth where hidden from Wylie because her father was keeping it from her by trying to protect her and when you reach the end it just makes want to know what will happen to Wylie becuase the ending is a cliff hanger.
this scene does show imagery. it describes the way how they can see a man from the other cabinet. I believe that when they described this scene I can see the guy telling them to not make a sound or they will put themselves in danger. when telling them in danger the man pulled out the rifle just to scare them. this happened when they got locked in.
the story is more likely to be taken place in the camp colestah. in the book, it describes how the place used to be before they got locked in. they found out what the place was being used by kids who party and do meth. afterward, they got the truth when Jasper, Wylie and Cassie got trapped in one of the cabinets.
