Storyboard Text

  • "I shall perish, I must perish in this deplorable folly."
  •
  • The frightened Narrator arrives at The House of Usher at the request of one of his old friends. Usher hopes that the narrator can help improve his mental state, but the Narrator is skeptical about Usher's past as well as his current living situation.
  • The Narrator is met by Usher who explains his sister's illness. Knowing that his sister had only days to live caused Usher to break down crying when she entered the room. A few days later, his sister, lady Madeline, passed away... or so they thought.
  • The Narrator and Usher partake in a series of activities in hopes of diverting their attention away from the lady Madeline's recent passing. During this time, the Narrator starts to notice Usher lack of mental stability. He starts painting disturbing images, yelling songs, and reciting poems which causes the Narrator to feel uneasy.
  • Worried that lady Madeline's body would be used for an autopsy, Usher insists that they place her body in their family tomb before being permanently buried elsewhere. While down there, the Narrator is shocked to find out that Usher and lady Madeline were actually twins.
  • Throughout the Narrator's stay, he had a feeling that something wasn't quite right, but that feeling intensified when he experienced the "power of such feeling". While pacing anxiously, Usher appears to inform the Narrator about the severe storm that was upon them. To take attention away from their fear, they read a story entitled "Mad Trist". As the Narrator is reading, he starts to hear faint screams, such as the ones in the book, downstairs.
  • The vague screams start to get louder and more noticeable. The Narrator glances over at Usher who appears to hear the same sounds. Usher, tense and on edge, admits to the Narrator that he had been hearing his sister's screams for a few days now. His enraged sister bursts through the door covered in blood, and strikes his brother, killing him instantly. The Narrator flees from the house, and as he looks back, he witnesses the House of Usher fall to the ground.
