But I am sitting in the black section so I don't need to move.
Blacks and whites were segregated everywhere. They were harmed. They wanted freedom. Most of the time they had to stand up even though there was still a lot of room
Jo Ann Robinson was yelled at on a bus. The bus driver yelled at her to Get up from there! She ran off the bus crying.
DONT ride the buses
A little while later the same thing happened to a woman named Rosa Parks. This is the beginning of the Montgomery bus boycott.
Many other blacks were thrown in jail for doing the same thing that Parks did
This angered the black community so they started a bus boycott. They had Martin Luther King as their main leader. There was more than 40,000 blacks boycotting and those who did ride buses were embarrassed. Although the government tried shutting them down many times, they worked around it.
The man above is King
They won the boycott and later most segregation laws came to an end. Blacks could finally sit beside a white person. Also they were treated much better by drivers.
