MOTHER, WHO IS GOING TO STAY HOME AND TAKE CARE OF THE CABIN!
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DEVIL BEAR?!
Person vs. Nature
¨Lyddie glared straight into the bear´s eyes, daring him to step forward into the cabin.¨ (page 2)
DON´T WORRY MAMA. I WILL TAKE CARE OF THE BEAR. NO NEED TO BE SCARED.
Person vs. Self
¨Lyddie hesitated, but her sodden clothes and blistered feet reminded her how unsuited she was to continue the journey.¨ (page 47)
Should i go be a mill worker or should i stay home at the cabin without a job with charlie?
In the beginning of the book, when the bear left their house, mama and lyddie argued about ing somewhere and staying back at the cabin and taking care of it. This type of conflict is is person vs. person because it is 2 people (lyddie and mama) fighting/arguing over something they both don´t agree/disagree on.
¨ ´I can´t stop you to go,´ lyddie said ´but i cant go with you. I cant leave the farm.´ When her mother opened her mouth to argue, lyddie went on. ´The sow wont fetch enough to provide coach fare for the lot of us.´ ¨ (page 6)
In the beginning of the book, there was a bear that was in lyddie´s house/cabin and so lyddie did her best to lead the bear out of their house. This type of conflict is person vs. nature because an animal, specifically a bear, in nature so this shows a problem between a person and an animal (in nature).
Lyddie wad debating weather she should stay or be a mill worker. This shows person vs. self because she was tired but she didn´t have any job here and felt that she could make more if she works at the factory instead of stayed here unemployed.
