- Macbeth knows thatMacduff'sloyalties don't lie with him, and this makes him angry. He sends hismurdererstokill Macduff's family.Macbethseems to think he isn't guilty ofmurderso long as he wasn't present when it occurred.
- Macbeth orders the slaughter ofMacduff'sentire household, culminating in this horrifying scene. Aforce of 'soldiers' invade Macduff's castle andmurders Lady Macduff and her children.
- Macduff Vowsto overthrow Macbeth and return Scotland to the rule of the people.Macduff is the first to suspect Macbeth's role in the demise of Duncan, and he also knows Macbeth has murdered Banquo.
