"Its strange that you're a fireman, how did it start?"
"I don't know if I am"
"are you happy?"
"I want more out of my life"
Montag because of his job and what society has implemented into his thinking has pleasure burning books and is content at where he currently is with life; not knowing that shortly after he would find someone that would completely change his perspective on everything he knows.
"I can help you seek the knowledge to change that"
Montag and Clarisse first meet each other when Montag is walking home from his job as a firefighter. She asks him questions that people wouldn't usually ask and that make Montag think a lot about his responses and about the society around him.
"Do you remember how to read? I have books "
"Of course I do, I've just never been able to get my hands on one"
"I have a plan to bring books back to society"
When Clarisse asks if Montag is happy he responds with a "yes" but after he puts some more thought into it he realizes that he isn't and that has to do with what his job has him do which is burn books. he feels as if his life is dull and with the recent trauma he has experienced he wants to make changes to his life and others around him but that involves going against certain rules.
"You're insane but your going to need my help"
Montag gets enlightened on how books have an immense amount of knowledge that are hidden from society. Faber tells Montag about how life used to be without the banning of books and seems very interested in these stories which shows the difference from his first view on books
Montag reminds Faber of how important books are in society and how much society is missing out on all the knowledge that books have to offer. There is a big contrast on how he thinks, and treats books now then in the beginning of the story
Faber and Montag construct a plan where to reverse the no book policy by planting books at his fire station so that they can frame the firemen of having posession of a book. Montag thinks that the plan will eliminate firemen and thereafter nobody will be able to enforce the book rule
