- Where did you find it?
- In my house. In the attic.
- Gee.. What a waste. When you're through with the book you just throw it away.
- School? What's there to write about school? I hate school.
- What is it about ?
- School
- It is not our kind of school. It is the old kind of school they had hundreds years ago.

- I wouldn't want a strange man in my house to teach me.
- Well I don't know about what kind of school they had. Did they have a teacher.
- Sure they had a teacher, but it wasn't a regular teacher. It was a man.
- This story takes place in Margie's House on May 17, 2157. Margie and Tommy live in a time where all books are replaced by 'Telebooks' and where they have mechanical teachers. The story starts with Tommy finding a real book that belonged to his Grandfather's grandfather.
- Later that day.

- I hate school!
- Margie always hated school but now she hated it more as the mechanical teacher had been giving her test after test in geography and she had been doing worse and worse until her mother sent for the county inspector who said that the geography sector was geared a little to quick. The county inspector repaired it but Margie had hoped that they would take the teacher away for a month .
- When we add 1/2 and 1/4...
- The old schools must have been fun.
- Margie was surprised to hear that their teacher was a man. She found it strange that all the kids studied together as her mother always told her that a teacher had to be adjusted to fit the mind of the boy and girl it taught and each kid had to be taught differently. At that moment her mother called her as it was time for her to study.
- Margie! School!
- The teachers didn't live in the house. They had a special building and all the kids went there.
- Margie went into the schoolroom after Tommy went home. The schoolroom was right next to her bedroom and the mechanical teacher was on waiting for her.It was always on at the same time every day except Saturday and Sunday because her mother felt that little girls learned better if they learned at regular hours.
- Margie was thinking about the schools they had hundred years ago. She was thinking about how all the kids from the whole neighbourhood came laughing into the school yard, sitting together in the school room, going home together at the end of the day. Margie was thinking about how the kids must have loved it in the old days. She was thinking about the fun they had.
