- When the earth was nothing but water, Tiamat and Apsu met, and gave birth to gods; representing mud and soil.
- Then, after a while, Tiamat and Apsu missed the peace and quiet, the other gods were too wild, so they made a plan to kill them.
- Ea had heard of this plan, and decided to get to Apsu before Apsu could get to him.
- Tiamat was furious that Apsu had died; Ea knew that it would be hard to combat Tiamat, so he created Marduk. He promised Marduk that if he won this battle, he can be the chief of all the gods.
- Ea held a banquet with very prized luxuries, and invited all the Gods. His plan to persuade the Gods into agreeing with his plan had worked. All of the gods said they were okay with Marduk being the chief, after all, they didn't think he would win.
- After fighting for days, Marduk finally caught up with Tiamat, and killed her.
- Once Marduk had sliced her in half, he flung one half up, and turned it into the sky. With the other half, he pressed it down to form land.
