- The Mormons were a religious group who practised a type of Christianity. However, they were targeted by other Christians who disagreed with Mormon practices such as polygamy.
- That's not proper Christianity!
- Joseph Smith, the leader of the Mormons was murdered which lead to Brigham Young becoming the new leader.
- Oh no! Joseph has been murdered! I guess I have to be the Mormon leader now!
- There were 2 exodus, the first led by Young with over 3,000 families. He named it the 'camp of Israel'
- Young decided to travel to the Great Salt Lake just south of the Oregon trail. He thought the Mormons would be safe there as it was isolated and part of Mexico not the US.
- Bye 1st exodus!
- The first exodus decided to stay in an area called the winder quarter until next spring but many came down with scurvy and died.
- I don't feel so good!
- The second exodus had 25 wagons but Young fell sick with mountain fever.
- When the Mormons reached the Great salt lake, or salt lake valley, Young declared it their new homeland and started building the foundations of what we know salt lake city.
