President Jackson battled and negotiated a treaty with the Creek Tribe. In the treaty, the Creek gave up 22 million acres of land to the US government.

When the Cherokee were forced to give up their land they felt sad because they lost a part of who they once were. They also felt betrayed by the United States.
Trail of Tears and Indian Territory
The Indian Removal act ended the united states earlier policy of respecting the rights of the native americans. This allowed the US to remove the Indians from their land and relocate them to present day Oklahoma and was named the Indian Territory.
The state of Georgia wanted the Cherokee removed from the land. The Cherokee fought back by saying that they had a right to the land. The tribe brought this case to the Supreme Court. The Cherokee won the case but Jackson ignored this and continued removing them from their land.
