- Can we learn about Joseph?
- Joseph's role in the life of Jesus is crucial and his character serves as a powerful example for us to live a holy life. Joseph was a man of great faith, humility, and obedience to God. Despite facing difficult and unexpected circumstances, he remained steadfast in his devotion to God and his role as a father. One of the most prominent characteristics of Joseph was his unwavering faith. When he learned that Mary was pregnant with a child that was not his own, he could have easily turned his back on her and walked away. However, Joseph chose to trust in God's plan and remained faithful to Mary, even though it meant facing ridicule and judgment from others. His faith in God's plan for his life and the life of his family is a powerful reminder for us to trust in God's timing and purpose, even when it may not align with our own plans. In addition to his faith, Joseph also exemplified humility. As a carpenter, he was not a man of great wealth or status. Yet, when he was chosen by God to be the earthly father of Jesus, he did not let his own pride or ego get in the way. He humbly accepted his role and served as a loving and supportive father to Jesus. This humility is a crucial aspect of living a holy life, as it allows us to put aside our own desires and serve God and others with a selfless heart. When God spoke to Joseph through dreams, he did not question or doubt, but instead, he obeyed. He took Mary as his wife, fled to Egypt to protect Jesus from King Herod, and returned to Nazareth when it was safe. Joseph's obedience to God's will, even in the face of uncertainty and danger, is a powerful example for us to follow. It reminds us that true holiness comes from surrendering our own will to God's and trusting in His plan for our lives.
