  • Mercantilism holds that a country builds wealth and power by building its supplies of gold and silver. To achieve this goal, a country must export, or sell to other countries, more than it imports, or buys from other countries. The English followed a Mercantilism policy. They thought that the raw materials in America were like a gold mine so, they made the Navigation Acts. Mercantilism is what formed our economy today.
  • The Navigation Acts was a agreement that force Americans to only sell resources to England. At first it was a great idea because they had someone to sell to but, after a while they could get better deals and get more out of it but they can only export to England. Some of the Americans started to smuggle their resources.
