This story took place in around the early 1900s. The main characters in this story are Mr and Mrs.White and Herbert. It starts off with the White family in their living room playing chess while waiting for Sargent-Major Morris.

The rising action is where they find out about the monkeys paw and are intrigued. The White family then takes the monkey's paw from Sargent-Major Morris and starts looking at it. After everyone leaves they make a wish of 200 pounds. They soon find out that Herbert has died and they get 200 pounds in return.
Resolution
There's no one out here.
The climax is where they wish for Herbert to come back alive.

The falling action is when there is a sudden knocking noise coming from the door and Mrs.White thinks it is Herbert. Also when Mr. White starts frantically looking for the monkey's paw to make another wish.

The resolution is where Mr.White finally finds the monkey paw and makes a wish that nobody knows to make the knocking sound stop.
