Motes heard the sharp twang of a bow string and saw an arrow strike his saddle under the tree. His dummy had tricked them! Then he heard another snap of a bow string and a cry out in the distance. A familiar whistle had came through the darkness and he realized it was Indian Jim. They found each other and spent the rest of the night hidden in the brush together incase there were more Indians around.
