- Here Lyddie is trying to talk and interact with her little brother Charlie for the first time in a while. She is having a conflict with herself because she doesn't have good grammar which makes her feel awkward and embarrassed.
- Here Lyddie has just gotten to the farm and when she climbs in through the window a random man is in her house. She is having a conflict with another character because she doesn't know what to do about the stranger in her house.
- Here Lyddie and her family were cooking dinner but then a wild black bear burst through the door. She is having a conflict with nature because it put her and her family in great danger
