- There are many things that may have influenced the Peloponnesian War. The reasons date back to the democracy of Cleisthenes in Athens which Sparta never aprroved of.
- Hello there! Today we are going to talk about the Peloponnesian War.
- The Peloponnesian War was a war between the Greek city-states of Athens and Sparta. They were the most powerful cities at the time.
- But what was the main cause of the Peloponnesian War?
- The main cause of the Peloponnesian War was because of the fight for power between Athens and Sparta. There were also other rivaleries with the Delian League.
- Wait! what! Now I am confused What is the Delian League?
- Sparta got jealous of Athens power so then they started their own League called The Peloponnesian Leaugue.
- The Delian League is a league formed by Athens to defend Greece against Athens. With this league Athens became one of the most powerful city-states.
- Athens lost because a plague had hit Athens and many Athenians died.
- You're probably wondering who won the Peloponnesian War right? Well it was Sparta.
- They also had allies. Sparta had help from Thebes and Athens had support from Argos.
