  • The Founding Fathers wrote the Articles of Confederation in 1777
  • The states ratified the Articles of Confederation in 1781
  •   The Articles demonstrated a weakness in common currency 1781-1787
  • The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United Sates. It was written to establish the new national government.
  • Shays' Rebellion In January, 1787
  • The representatives from each state can together and ratified the Articles of Confederation. 
  • The Great Compromise, May-September, 1787

  • One of the problems with the Articles of Confederation was that there wasn't any common currency. This was a problem because the states couldn't trade with one another.
  • The Bill of Rights, 1791
  • The Bill of Rights  Freedoms for the people
  • Shays' Rebellion helped the people see that they needed new laws. Shays' Rebellion helped the people realize that their government was very weak. 
  • The Great Compromise was when congress made 2 houses in under the Legislative Branch. One house using the New Jersey plan and the other house using the Virginia plan.
  • The Bill of rights was a document written to  give people their rights. Such as their different freedoms and capabilities available.
