While Salva is in school him and his classmates heard gunshots all around the small schoolhouse. His teacher tells everyone to leave and run into the bush, and stay far away from the village as they can. They were being attacked.
RESOLUTION - Reunion and Making a Difference
Salva walks for a very long time and has some very bad experiences. He ends up in a refugee camp with some other boys who were with him in his long walk from one camp to another. Then he ends up in Ethiopia where he stays for a few years until word comes out that the Ethiopian government camp is closing. They now have to fight for their lives yet again to survive the soldiers shooting at them and crocodiles who are trying to eat them..
Salva has nearly 1,500 boys following him from Ethiopia to Kenya where they find refuge camp. After what seems like a years long walk there, Salva and a few other boys known as the Lost Boys are picked to go to America and start a new life with a new family.
Salva moves to Rochester, NY, with a new family and begins a new life. He can now go back to Sudan to see his family. His nonprofit organization called Water for South Sudan, has brought clean water to hundreds of thousands in Sudan and has helped so many people in the process.
