Storyboard Text

  • After World War 1, people wanted normalicy because everything had been for the war. People started to focus on themselves and their family. Hope and prosperity was what everyone was aiming for at this time.
  • While the economy was cracking at the seams. Citizens of America had hopes and dreams and bought lots of things on credit. Everyone was not aware of the underlying problem.
  • Come to the cotton club and have a good time. They have the best musicians.
  • Americans were having the time of their lives. People invested in stock on the speculation, because many other people had made money that way. Then the stock started to depreciate fast.
  • I turned my 5$ into 500$, you should invest in stocks! It's only going up!
  • When people bought things on credit the economy slowed down from people buying everything they need on credit. Shoppers didn't shop as much so the could work and pay off their debt. This made jobs have less profit so they let go of workers.
  • Sorry John we have to let you go we don't have the funds to pay you.
  • People were worried and had seen that their investments were lower than what they payed to invest so everyone went to the bank to take their stocks out. Doing this made the bank fail.
  • You shouldn't take your stock out.
  • I WANT MY MONEY!
  • When the banks became bankrupt people's money was lost. There was a great panic many people could not pay their debt back. They were losing their homes, being laid off by their jobs, and barely could feed their kids.
