  • Verbal Irony
  • Who's there?!?
  • Dramatic Irony
  • My plan is working!!
  • Situational Irony
  • I despise that eye!!!
  • I should spy on the old man, and see him sleep everyday
  • This is an example of verbal irony because the narrator had said that he was being very careful but was loud enough to wake the old man up. The narrator wasn't at all being quiet, it was the opposite he was making noise so much so that he had awakened the old man. What would normally happen is if someone is being careful to an extend for someone else not to hear them. They will try their best not to make any sudden noises that could potentially be loud or awaken someone up.
  • This is an example of dramatic irony because in the storyline it has said that the narrator was planning to kill the old man, but the old man didn't know anything that was happening behind closed doors. Starting from this the old man didn't know any of the skens that the narrator was planning to do with him. What would happen during this situation is the old man will be very clueless as to why the narrator is trying to kill him or why the narrator has been acting pretty mysterious.
  • This is an example of situational irony because instead of just killing the old man right away. The narrator waited 8 long days just to kill the old man. Why wait 8 long days to kill or get rid of something or someone you don't like? What would normally happen is if someone doesn't like something or dislike something they would normally get rid of it the same day or the following day.
