This is my story about how I contributed to help stop consumerism. Hopefully you can learn about what you may be doing and how to stop it.
Bethany what's wrong, I thought you were going to go shopping with mom, for the 5th time this week.
Bethany I think we need to talk. now that you have addressed your own issue.
Ugh, not anymore. Mom can't go because she had an 'emergency trip.' Shopping is my therapy! She was even going to get me the newest phone, computer, and, well, everything else! Casandra, I can't live without shopping, and the dump can't either. There is a beautiful place made up of the things I threw away!
You see Bethany as you buy things just for pleasure, you may be happy, but you know who isn't happy, the environment. Shopping shouldn't be a pleasure maker, but a treat that happens every so often. It's not a competition to see who is the best, or who can get the best things. You need to be grateful for what you have, and not use shopping as an activity just to make you happy.
Ughhh, it's just not fair!*throws phone across the room*
3 days later when Bethany and Casandra's mom returns from her trip.
No thanks mom! I would rather help the environment, than waste your money, besides I don't need anything. I don't need anything when I can be happy with what I have. If I don't buy, the environment and others don't have to suffer!
Girls, I'm home!Do you want to go shopping now Bethany? I heard that the iPhone 13 is out now.
I am going through some of my stuff because I don't need a lot of it. I am going to give what I don't want to Casandra or give them to someone who can benefit from them. I want to be more cautious about what I do and throw into the environment.
Hey hon, what are you doing?
I helped by making my community a better and cleaner place. By putting an end to my Consumerism, it wasn't only me who benefited.
