- During the revolution Napoleon quickly rose in the army. He grew famous from his many victories against Austria. In 1799 he switched from a general to a political leader.
- I am now the emperor of France.
- During his time as emperor Napoleon had many policies. One of his famous ones was the one where he opened jobs to all based on talent. He also introduced a new set of laws called the Napoleonic Code it embodied Enlightenment principles such as the equality of all citizens before the law, religious toleration, and the abolition of feudalism.
- Napoleon led many wars in order to try and conquer out of all of Europe.
- Eventually people were tired of the French forcing their ideas so Spain began revolting against the French. This resistance inspired Austria to get revenge on France but they ended up losing. After that Napoleon wanted to invade Russia but that proved unsuccessful and only 20,000 soldiers were left.
- After the defeat in Russia Napoleon abdicated and left in exile on an island in the Caribbean. Then King Louis XVIII took over but France started being attacked so Napoleon came out of exile to fight. Soon after that he was defeated at Waterloo and abdicated once again.
