There was an old farmer who lived in a village. He had four sons, they were lazy and idle. They often quarreled among themselves. The old man was very annoyed with it.
Until one day, the old farmer get very sick and become bed ridden. So he called his four sons because he wanted to teach them a lesson.
So he told them that since he is dying, he wanted to give them a useful piece of advice. He brought a bundle of sticks.
He asked all his sons turn by turn to break the bundle of sticks. All tried hard, but none of them was able to break the bundle.
The old man then said to untie the bundle and each must take a stick. Then, he asked them to break it. Much to their surprise, they broke the stick easily.
The father said to his sons, " Now learn a lesson, my dear boys. Do not quarrel with one another. Live together like this bundle of sticks. You will be happy and strong."
