- There was an old farmer who lived in a village. He had four sons, they were lazy and idle. They often quarreled among themselves. The old man was very annoyed with it.
- Until one day, the old farmer get very sick and become bed ridden. So he called his four sons because he wanted to teach them a lesson.
- So he told them that since he is dying, he wanted to give them a useful piece of advice. He brought a bundle of sticks.
- He asked all his sons turn by turn to break the bundle of sticks. All tried hard, but none of them was able to break the bundle.
- The old man then said to untie the bundle and each must take a stick. Then, he asked them to break it. Much to their surprise, they broke the stick easily.
- The father said to his sons, " Now learn a lesson, my dear boys. Do not quarrel with one another. Live together like this bundle of sticks. You will be happy and strong."
