  • Industrial Revolution
  • Let's create the Enclosure Act so we have more workers for the factories and business's.
  • Many years ago, towards the 1760's to 1840's, the industrial revolution started. This was were factories and business's were growing tremendously because they had all the natural resources and wealth in Europe.
  • The government created the enclosure Act so more people would move into cities. They wanted more workers so the country makes more profit.
  • I'm so sorry Timmy, but we need the money.
  • Welcome Timmy! You start work in 5 minutes and will work for 13 hours straight. Have fun!
  • Although, the Enclosure Act forced people out of their homes in the countryside. Plus many farmers lost their farms, forcing them to move into bigger cities.
  • Everyone get ready to work for long periods of time!
  • Inside the cities it was overcrowded and there were many health risks. Families would find jobs and work overtime so they could save enough money to get out of the poverty.
  • Families became so desperate for money, that the started sending their children out to work. Companies liked this decision since children would be paid cheaper and be able to fit between small spaces to fix machines.
  • Many children would loose fingers or get broken bones from the machines. More and more factories would start hiring more children because it was less expensive.
