We fear Carthage so we should attack them.
Second Punic War
Third Punic War
The Romans feared Carthage so they attacked them. It was a sea war so the Romans built the Corvus and attached it to the ships so they could go onto the enemies ship and attack. The Romans won due to the Corvus. They won Sicily and made peace with Carthage.
After Rome won the first war Carthage's new ruler was angry. He weaved though the mountains on elephants to Rome. They had no equipment to break through the walls so they waited around in Rome for 15 years. Rome decided to attack Carthage so they would have to retreat home. Rome also won this war. The Romans received all of Carthage's territory and resources.
There was 50 years of peace following the second Punic War. Then, Carthage started gaining more power and Rome was afraid they might conquer Rome, so Rome attacked them first. Rome burned the city to the ground and plowed salt into their fields. They killed most of the Carthaginians and sold the rest into slavery.
