- Equality and The Golden One refuse to tell where they have been, resulting in them getting beaten in the Palace of Corrective Detention.
- “We will not tell you.”
- After escaping jail, Equality ran to the Forbidden Forest and hides out thinking he will die out there.
- "It has been a day of wonder, this, our first day in the forest"
- The Golden One escapes the society and follows a trail to Equality.
- "We leapt forward, we ran to them, and we stood looking upon the Golden One."
- The Golden One and Equality wander the woods for days, leaving the city further and further behind them.
- "We have walked for many days. The forest has no end, and we seek no end."
- After days of wandering, they find a house from the unmentionable times and decide to start a life of their own at this house.
- "we stood a house such as we had never seen, and the white fire came from the sun on the glass of its windows."
