Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space
A ping pong ball has less matter because its hollow
And a gold ball has a lot of matter because its a solid
Mass is used to measure the weight of an object.
The metric system uses the units of measurement called grams and kilograms
To measure mass of your body you step on a scale
Weight is the force exerted by the gravity on an object
The difference between mass and weight is mass is the amount of material contained in something and weight is the force exerted by gravity
An example of the difference would be your weight is different on the moon and earth
The definition of volume is the space that something takes up or that is within a container
You can measure the volume of an irregular object by putting it into water and using a graduated cylinder and the unit of measurement you would use would be a milliliter
Density is the compactness of a substance which means the quantity of mass per unit volume
A high density object is a golf ball because in water it would sink
A low density object is a ping pong ball because if you put it in water it would float
The last thing to talk about is density of water which is the weight of the water per unit volume and also depends on how hot or cold it is and is also measure in 1 gram per milliliter and 1 gram per cubic centimeter
The reason an object would sink or float would be because of the density. If the object is less dense it will float if it is more dense it will sink.
