Storyboard Text

  • Gamma ray is the strongest EM wave, as it has the highest energy and frequency, and has the shortest wavelength than any other EM waves.
  • They were usually produced from one of the hottest and energetic places in our universe, such as neutron stars or supernova explosions. It was also form on Earth by nuclear explosion and lightning.
  • The more interesting question to ask about Gamma rays is; "What its effects on us, humans, and the environment?"
  • Gamma Rays effects us greatly, as they usually poses health risk. Gamma ray's radiation is also called Ionizing radiation, which destroys our tissue and DNA, thus it produce mutations and also is one of many main cause of cancer.
  •
  • In our environment, due to very low amounts of gamma rays enters on Earth, it barely does anything harmful, as it only affects few plants and animals, and so does the effects are similar to humans.
  • However, if huge amount of gamma ray enters the Earth, it usually causes mass extinction. These mass extinctions can potentially disrupted biodiversity and life structures. Some hypothesis stated that the cause of the Ordovician–Silurian extinction, happened 450 Million years ago, which wiped 67% of all life on Earth, was caused by a Gamma Ray Burst.
