Storyboard Text

  • After Lesson…
  • Awah that sounds so boring I don’t want to do that
  • Today we will be exploring the weather cycle! We will start today’s introduction by listening to a story and then discussing our experiences with rain.
  • I don’t want to stay… (student storms out of classroom angrily)
  • I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with today’s activity, but I believe you will enjoy the activities planned over the next few days on the water cycle.
  • The Next Day…
  • (Inside teachers head) I will let Daniel calm down before we talk about what happened
  • Welcome back Daniel, how are you feeling? Would you like to tell me why you left the lesson? I was looking forward to you learning about the water cycle as I know you are interested in experiments which we will be doing once you learn a little about the water cycle.
  • I am feeling in the orange zone…I wanted to run around outside because I had a lot of energy
  • Thank you for explaining how you are feeling with a calm voice. Next time, if you need a body break could you please let me know by raising your hand and asking if you could have a break? That way I know that you need a moment to move and refocus…
  • Yes I can try that. Could I take walks down the hallway and back for my breaks?
  • I think that is a great suggestion Daniel. Some other suggestions I think would work is to go to the quiet area and pick one of the mindfulness cards or ask for a wobble stool. Let’s check in with each other in a few days to see if those suggestions work for you!
  • Thank you for listening, sorry for walking out, next time I will try try one of the strategies!
  • (Hand raised) Ms. T I feel like I could use a quick body break by walking down the hallway and back, may I go?
  • That sounds like a great idea, you may be excused for a quick body break!
