This book is the true story of Edith Hahn Beer, a Jewish woman who survived the onslaught of the Nazis by taking a false name and eventually marring a Nazi officer.
The theme I believe would be that no matter what never forget who you are and where you came from.
The Mood was more of a secretive feeling with the way she hid from the Nazis right under their noses.
The Tone for me would be suspensful and exciting because at any moment she could have been caught.
Edith was a kind-hearted woman who was born in Vienna, Austria. She did not want to endanger those who helped her as much as she could. She always tried to take care of things on her own so as not to draw anyone else into her predicament.
I believe that one of the most important events in the book was the Nazi occupation of Vienna and how all of a sudden, Jewish people could not do anything. This was the case for Edith because she thought she had nowhere else to go. For her home was taken and she must leave or die.
