  • Tessie is a middle aged women. Tessie's thoughts are that she thinks that the lottery is not right. When Tessie says "It isn't fair it isn't right" she means it is not right to pick random people to kill as a tradition
  • The community is a bunch of people. Old man Warner wants to keep up this this tradition. The town is on both sides of keeping and not keeping the lottery. "I want to keep this tradition up" as old man Warner.  
  • Tessie is in conflict with the community, or the townspeople. When Tessie says "it isn't fair, it isn't right" she wants to get rid of the lottery because it is not fair to pick randomly someone to kill.
