  • Czar Nicholas had been leading Russia during WW1. He made plenty of poor decisions and wasn't a strong leader. They had gone into a famine during the war and struggled with the heavy taxes he put on them. As the Tsar family lived in luxury peasants and workers were struggling and were slowly becoming angry. And that's where Vladimir Lenin come's in.
  • We will not let the Europeans entering the U.S spread communism here. We wont let it happen
  • Lenin wants better for the government. He wants to focus on the people and bettering them. Lenin had promised the Russian workers “Peace, Love, and Bread”. The emblem of Lenin was a sickle and hammer showing the unity between peasants and workers. Communism meant the that the working class and peasants could all feel like they had some sort of power. They were all mostly equal.
  • Lenin was the leader of the Bolsheviks and the red army. The Bolsheviks were a communist faction that took over Russia, and the red army was the Bolsheviks and their supporters. They wanted to make sure the Tsar dynasty ended there. They wanted them gone, so they executed all of them.
  • America and a few other countries wanted nothing to do with communism. It was openly hostile to American beliefs and values such as capitalism, private ownership of land, and businesses. First Amendment freedom to Lennon's interpretation of Communism completely violated the freedoms Americans have. The Americans had fought the British for their freedom and didn't want a repeat.
  • There was the red army and the white army. The red army was the Bolsheviks and their supports. And the white army was the people who opposed the Bolsheviks and their ideas (Britain, France, Japan, and the Unites States). There were many places the openly hated communism and some that didn't. The reason the Russians were so open to communism was because they had been oppressed by czarist rules and communism promised a classless society.
  • Since so many people hated the idea of communism they began calling it the red scare. The whole fear people had about the rise and spread of communism
