Storyboard Text

  • The Earth started out as a lifeless rock
  • There was nothing but Earth and a god. (Umvelinqangi)
  • The god (Umvelunqangi)dropped a single seed to Earth, that seed then sprouted into a long reed. This seed was the very first life form that all life descended from. The reed then dropped more seeds and they grew, just like the first one. This continued until they created a swamp to the North, in a land called Uthlanga.
  • One day a man started to grow off the end of a reed, he was the first know ancestor they called him "The Great One" . He snapped of the reed one day and began walking around the land of Uthlanga. While walking he noticed other people growing from these reeds, just like he did. He went around taking them off of the reeds. These were the first humans, they quickly began to spread across Earth. When they reached the South, they began to start growing crops from the reeds. Meanwhile, all kinds of life forms were starting to grow from these reeds. The Great One started to notice all the life forms growing from these reeds. He gathered fish from the reeds and threw them into the rivers.
  • Rivers, fields, and forests started growing and expanding. When The Great One saw this, he began harvesting birds, antelope, cattle, lions, and other predators. Along with magical creatures such as, Mamlambo, the goddess of rivers, Mbaba the goddess of rain and rainbows who also invented farming.
  • The Great one then pulled of a ball of fire and a glowing stone off the reeds and threw them up into the sky, these became our sun and moon.
  • In one of the final acts from The Great One, he pulled off a chameleon and sent it to give the humans a message. The message was " Men must not die " meaning all humans would be immortal but the chameleon was too slow for The Great One, so he picked a new faster chameleon, but he delivered the wrong message. This chameleon said "men must die" and from then on, humans were mortal. Many people suspect that The Great One, was the god who dropped the seed to Earth.
