Candra Gupta is the founder of the Maurya dynasty who was able to conquer much of India's Territory. His grandson Asoka was very much like him who was able to gain the throne. after him.
Asoka had many rivals and invasions but the most famous one will have to be the invasion of Kalinga during the year 262...
Asoka was later horrified of the bloodshed. He decided to abort the mission/conquest and he decided to practice Buddhism. He made a personal piety part of his rule. He would now rule people under the name
Throughout Asoka's empire, he would plant pillars that would contain edicts or rules for his empire. They would include things such as how Asoka would treat people more fairly. Many other people urged religous tolerance
Before Buddhism became well known, Asoka sent many missionaries (including children)to places such as Palestine to spread the knowledge of Buddhism.
GO SPREAD BUDDHISM!!!
Asoka would build monasteries which was a place for nun/monks to live in. This was a holy site built that honored Buddhist holy people.
