- I hate working here. I want my own freedom and I don't want to be whipped ever again!.
- Frederick Douglass had been sent to a farm to work for. He lives/works at Mr. Covey's (the overseer) farm. He has been at the farm for 6 months and Douglass is often whipped for no reason. Mr. Covey keeps an eye on all the slaves to see if they are doing their work.
- Get back to work!!!
- Help! Help! Help! I am sorry! Please let me go, please!
- I am tired of you! Now you feel the pain and how I felt every day you whipped me!
