Elie accidentally saw Idek with women naked. Idek was embarrassed and got mad so he whipped Elie on a crate.
Man Vs. Nature

Elie was having suicidal thoughts. He didn't understand why he was in the concentration camp and if it was better off to die than to live there, so he threw himself into the barbed wire.
Man Vs. Society
First edict: Jews were prohibited from leaving their residencesfor three days, under penalty of death.(Wiesel 10).
Everyone was worshiping God in a solemn service and Elie was mad. Elie was upset because all these bad things were happening and he felt like God wasn't doing anything about it.
They had been walking for hours in the frigid conditions. Walking over dead bodies and trying not to slow down, because if they did they would get shot.
It was the Jews vs. everyone else. Only Jews were getting told these things and it is simply not ok.
